A bit of Bali...

So this is Bali. A bit of everything. You can do it all here. Very touristy, but not expensive in the least. We're enjoying ourselve very much. A beer costs (Big Bintang - 1L) from 10,000 to 15,000 rupiah, and there is about 10,000 rp to 1 US dollar. Accomodations usally run us $4-6 but we are splurging this weekend and staying in a place with a pool for $10. Beer is more often than not, the most expensive portion of your meal when you eat.

We've surfed, we've snorkelled (been stung by jelly fish), fished, fried in the sun, walked amongst monkeys, and taken in some temples. We'll have some indonesian trekking under our belt before we leave. In a few days we're heading to a place called Patangbai where we'll get our open water certificates for scuba diving. If we like it I am sure we'll come home with our advanced ticket. We'll see how it goes...

Anyway here are a few picks. Might as well start with the one we love the most. Slimming pic isn't it (no I'm not really fat, just bad angle)? ... really, I've lost weight, I swear! Like my tuna?
I hindu temple in a town called Ubud.
I monkey doing something... This is where we walked through a monkey sanctuary. Neat place, but the monkeys are kleptomaniacs and were chasing Jillene around trying to steal her water bottle. I let them...

This is a bungalow where we stay on the beach on Lambogan Island just off the Bali mainland. Pretty typical of what we've been staying in... I think we payed about 75,000 rp.
Would you cross an ocean in this? We did. This is the boat we took from Lambogan back to the Bali mainland. We squished 7 of us on there... the locals said they have and can take 15. We wouldn't want to be on it then...
A wedding (we think!) on Sanur beach. We stay here for a night waiting for our ferry to Lambogan island.
Yeah, this wakes us up almost every day at 6am! We'll wakes Jillene up... We've eaten a few as well.

And a belated Happy Birthday. Watch out for your cousin, although it is probably too late for the warning now.
