Tiger Leaping Gorge

Lijiang was also the jumping off point for Tiger Leaping Gorge. This was a 2-3 day trek that we managed to do in 2 days because we were enjoying the walk so much on day 1. Apparently the Chinese have slated to start building a dam that will eventually see all this go under water in 2008, so it was especially nice to. People won't be able to do this walk for much longer.

The start of the trek...

A stop for lunch on our first day.
The trail. That's me going around the corner and out of site. Was nice to seem some proper mountains again. Had been a long time!A cool part of the trek where the trail actually lead us a across a water fall we had to hike past.Traffic enroute.Another shot of the trail.

The gorge.Another shot of the gorge.A land slide caused by all the rain received before our arrival. We were glad that it had stopped and stayed away while we were there.Waiting for the ferry to cross the river. We had to yell at these guys from the other side of the river. Unfortunately they weren't down in the gorge like us, and we had to wait around 20 mins for them to run down the mountain and then come and fetch us!More of the gorge as we climbed up and out after crossing the river.
The group of us less Jillene taking the picture. Jenna (Australia), Sarah (US), and Hugo (England).

It was a fun trek.
