Last days with Guns & Jo... Hampi
We arrived in Hampi in the evening, and couldn't get a room to save our life, so our stay started on a rooftop restaurant where we ended up staying the night on the same mats we're sitting on below. Apparently this happens quite often, and to be honest we were perfectly happy/comfortable doing so. We had food/drinks, and thanks to the 'beverages' on the train, we slept quite well!
The accommodations we did manage to get the next day ended up being much nicer however, and above is what we were situated next to. A rice field amongst the boulder composed hills which makes up Hampi's landscape.
We started seeing the sites and came across bath time at the river. Apparently this little one doesn't like getting a bath!
Our second full day was spent wandering around the surrounding sites of Hampi, taking in the ancient temples which date back to the 13th century. We did this by hiring an auto rickshaw driver for the day and the 4 of us piling in to the back. The following are just a few pictures of what there was to see.
Thats Jillene and Joanna above if you can make them out in the pink and blue... and thats the beautiful Jillene below (obviously) posing for a close up. You can see Gunnar and I in the reflections of her sunglasses if you look closely! Maybe the pictures too small though...
Guns an Jo...
The 4 of us...Gunnar and Ganesh! And finally Gunnar at sunset, prepping is Camera bag as we attempt to cross a river after dark. We had to make a run to Hospet for some cash, and got delayed a bit at the wine store! Bought some road pops to enjoy in the back of the autorickshaw on the way home and in turn missed the ferry as it stopped running at 6:00 and this was taken after 6:30. We made it accross without issue, but barely! Gunnar may have went for a swim with his $5000 camera, but everything was pulled out before any serious damage could occur. Funny now that everything turned out okay... and another story for the books to laugh again about later!
