Vang Vienne
Vang Vienne... a great little place in Laos. Our second stop, and we just about didn't make it out! As you can see below the landscape was gorgeous, steep limestone cliffs littered with caves and a river at its base. Lots of stuff to keep you occupied here, hence why we stayed 5 days. It is a little 'touristy', but it is easy to get away from if you really wanted. This doesn't look like much, but it is actually an enctrance to a cave (one of our favorites). You jump on a tube, strap on a head lamp and float on in. Once inside there is a rope which you can use to pull yourself into the mountains depths. You can go in about 200m before you reach the end. This is the 'Blue Lagoon', and it was a cool place to kill an afternoon. Nice clear water to swim in and there are caves not to far from here either. But this was our highlight, tubing! It was the reason we stayed so long. We did this 3 of the 5 days here and it was too much fun. Essentially you just rent a tube and jump into a tuk tuk which takes you 3km north of town. Jump in the river and spend the day making your way back. But it doesn't stop there... there are bars the whole way down so you're never empty handed. Here is Jillene a little ways ahead of me starting off the day beer in hand.
Had to stop for a break/refill. This is one of the bars along the way. Oh yeah, your doing this with a few 100 other people! You know life is really tough though when you have vallet tube parking...The best part of the bars... the swings. This was a good one and here's Jillene giving it a try. We have some videos of both of us doing the swings well have to show everyone when we get back. In short, each bar seemed to want to have the biggest swing, so some of them got pretty crazy! We counted 9 bars on the way down.Nearing the end of the trip... nice view eh?
And on our last day our vessels were hijacked by pirates! They got a free ride to town...

Love the shaggy hair buddy. Just let it grow buddy. Showing all your pics to ICU. I can't believe you managed to tube 3 days. I had a 2 day hangover after each time!! HMM Beer Laos!! There must be more bars now. Were not 9 bars before, only 6 or 7 (that I remember)!!
Its an easy nine if you count the little girls hanging from each brige selling beer and giving free shots of Lao Lao!
Will either of you ever want to go to work when you get home ?? When there is so much fun to be had out thete ?? Looks like just too much fun to me.. especially the BEER !! How could I be missing that?? Love ya so take care
