Andamans

The Andaman Islands... a great little set of islands about 1000km east of the Indian mainlands. As you can only get there from India tourism hasn't really rooted itself in here yet, but it's coming! And for good reason, the beaches are beautiful and the diving was great. With much imagination all beaches are named by number, and below is the star. Apparently listed in 'Times Magazine' as one of the top 10 beaches in the world is beach (I kid you not) Beach #7.What makes Beach #7 even better are the trees that line it... this picture may not to them any justice, but they really are pretty...
This is a Burmese fishing boat which apparently drifted over the the Andamans and some fisherman discovered. It was anchored just off our beach where we were staying waiting for its demise. Apparently they were going to take it apart and sell the Bamboo as it is very valuable one the islands. Just the bamboo was worth $1500 apparently...
Some coppers patrolling our beach with rifles and the dreaded bamboo cane...
Our beach just 40m from our hut... Imaginatively named Beach # 3!
A tree growing on the beach just inside the high tide mark...
The path through the palm trees to the beach. Jillene is taking the picture from our hut...

Easily the beast bamboo thatch bungalow we've ever stayed in. She was brand new, and we were her first clients. For $7.50 a night, with great beaches all around, and world class diving... I can't believe we were actually able to leave.

Sunset on Beach #7
The great gang of travelers we hung out with while on the island. 2 Swedes, 3, English, and an Australian...
