Panama

On the road again after a nice break in Junquillal... We needed to catch a flight to Ecuador, and Mom & Dad needed to do a border run.  They were headed to Panama (Panama City being the ultimate destination), and our cheapest flights were from there.  So we were talked into stealing a week from Equador, and we were on our way again.  We only had a week, so we didn't see much.  But what we did see, gave us good reason to go back and further explore Panama.  First stop was the small Town of David for the night... Then we headed to a really nice town up in the hills called Bouquete.

No pictures from David (not really anythign worth pulling the camera out for), but we did have a lots of reasons in Bouquete.  We spent 3 nights, 2 days exploring the country side in the luxury of mom and dads truck.  Was a good place to have wheels...

Then we made the trip further south to Panama City.  Was a pretty modern city ~ and although we knew it would be, it still felt odd to find it as such considering how the rest of Central America had been.  Another 3 nghts here, and we were on our flight to Ecuador.  One week sure goes by fast...

We did a number of things in Panama city, including spending half a day looking for and buying a replacement camera; as ours decided to pack it in.  However the highlight here (as I'm sure it is for everyone), is the Panama Canal.  It is really impressive to see yourself, and worth the trip in itself.  Although we'll have another reason to go back in a couple years, as the new canal will be open.  And this will be even more amazing based on the limited introduction we were given...

These were some big ships, with limited room to spare when going through the canal.  I fairly sure they were designed know the width and the and lenght restrictions of the canal.  I can only imagine the ships that you'll see go through once the new canal opens.
