Barachara & San Gil
We headed to San Gil next; Barachara is another 'old town' nearby that we heard was worth a visit, so we made it a day trip from San Gil our first day there. The first pics below are from Barachara...
Another viewpoint...
It was quite a pretty little town.
Before we left, we found a little park. We wanted to treat Delcan to something more up his alley. I think he had a good time. We got lots of smiles...
Now we're back in San Gil where we were staying. It's the 'Adventure Sports' center of Colombia. Lots of white water rafting, Canyoning, Para Gliding, among other sports. Of course none of this is really conducive to traveling with a 1 year old, so we settled for the parks and other such sites.
Declan got to meet some Parrots...
We thought this was worthy of a photo! When is the last time you took your sheep to the corner store to get a few things... :)
More Churches... Can't believe that we didn't take any pictures of it, but San Gil had by far our favorite 'central plaza/park'. It was THE PLACE to go for all citizens living in the town. We would hang out there for hours, with hundreds of other people. There was a bench every 2 feet (there must have been over 100), and you were hard pressed to snag one. Lots of street venders selling little snacks and drinks. We would just hang out there, enjoy a beverage, let Declan play on the bench or grass, flirt with all the ladies, and people watch. It was a great little place to hang out!
Some crazy steep roads in this town...
Declan and I decided to stop for a beer... we had a thirst.
Declan yelling at people as they walked by our hotel balcony... was pretty funny (for us anyway). The video is obviously better than the picture.
San Gill from our Hostal roof...
