Sepilok
A couple pictures from Sepilok. We stayed in a place called the 'Jungle Resort'. Below is a picture from a board walk off of the hotel. It was a a nice place, with a great setting. Hopefully this picture does it a little justice...
And the main reason we came here. The Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Center. 1 of 3 in the world where rescued Orang-Utans are rehabilitated to a point where they can be released back into the Jungle and survive on their own. 3-4 years until they can be released into the jungle, and up to 10 years for some before they can survive on their own without being fed. It is a long process, but often works. Rescue is required because of depleting jungle/space for them to live. Palm plantations are rapidly taking away their homes and mothers often abandon their young because of the scarcity of food. We got these pictures during one of 2 daily feeding times at one of the rehabilitation centers feeding platforms.
