The Declan Show on the road in Costa Rica...

So we usually strap on the backpacks this time of year and head for warmer climates.  We didn't want to give this up entirely; and although the backpacks got us down here, they're not seeing as much use. It's a 'one stop', 'home base' get away this year down in Costa Rica right near the folks in Junquillal.  Not quite the same, as our usual escape (and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the daily travel adventures), but having this little guy down here with us and introducing him to the world as we are; it doesn't get much better...

First day in CR, time for your 'first swim'.  Was a little tough getting him in (as you can see he wasn't too happy), but he did pretty good once he was used to it.  Daily swims, and now he's happier in the water than he is out.  He gets pretty mad when his swim is ended, even if he's got a quivering lip telling us that he's cold!

Nap time after the swim, they just take it right out of us.

A little more relaxed after a couple of days...

Neighbour Jorge meeting Declan for the first time...
 Napping with Grandma.
Cleaning some Red Snapper for dinner with Gary.  Quite the job 'de-scaling' these guys.
 First day at the beach,
Totally stressed out as you can see.
First swim in ocean to cool off; was a warm day, as they all are!
Dinner with Jorge and Family in San Jose during a quick visit to see Carolina, Michael, the new baby Joel, take care of a little work, and see some sights.

Taking a bath in our New Digs after crashing at Grandma and Grandpa's for a couple weeks.
The pool and facilities and the new place.  Pretty nice, and an easy 7 iron shot distance from the folks.
Getting into a routine now... Pick-up beach volleyball at Playa Negra every Tuesday afternoon until Sunday.
Mouck and Lynn managed to get down for 2+ weeks which was awesome...  They had their hands full with Arden whom is now flying around wanting to walk everywhere.  Luckily grandparents Gary and Shannon were more than happy to help out.

 One of many sunset pics...
The Family spending an afternoon playing in the pool.  Declan now at home, floating contently.  Just need a hand to keep up that head of his from sinking!
Grandpa James' manage to fit in a visit, although he was having so much fun he extended it from 1 week to 2.
One of many 'bluff' sunset parties...

A parade put on by the kids during the 'Tortuga Festival'.
Trying to make something of the small surf that plagued the ocean for the first few weeks after our arrival.  I'm happy to say that things have improved greatly, and (knock on wood) that trend will continue.
Visit to a waterfall outside of Liberia
Wayne, Gary, and Terry looking really stressed...
 Jillene and her dad...
Some smiles, laughs, and funny faces from our growing little guy.

Arden showing off his new hairdo...

Pizza party to send off Terry...
 The ladies cooking class...
 More 'bluff sunset gatherings!'
A little surprise arrival from Amanda for Mom and Dad...
 Sunset...
Weekend trip to Arenal for a bike race with Jorge.  Over 4000 people ride through the mountains from Tilleran to Lafortuna on a rough gravel road/trail that forges many creaks/rivers.  A few Tucans Jillene managed to snap while I was riding...

After the race. A little muddy/dirty, but still good to go after a rough 55km.
 More waterfalls to take in...
