Agra; Essentially a bunch of pictures of the Taj...

Agra has a number of sites to offer other than the Taj Mahal... one of which you'd never guess. Or maybe you would; you're right, a fort!

Also an old Muslim mausoleum... Akbars mausoleum to be exact...

These few pictures were taken at sunset from behind the Taj outside it's walls on the opposite (north) side of a river.

But early the next morning, we were up at 5:30 and ready to go in and see the Taj at sunrise. We new it would be like Disneyland and wanted to beat the majority of the crowds.

They Taj was great to see, and really awe inspiring when it came to the shear size of it and all the inlay work that went into its marble structure. Truly beautiful, and we feel lucky that we were able to see it.
Yet there were still more sites to see in Agra, this site actually being another mosque just 40kms outside of Agra with an associated palace next store. A nice little day trip by bus from Agra...

And Jillene's highlight from Agra (after the Taj I'm sure) is this little piece of fabric right here. I still shake my head sometimes that I didn't turn my head and run in the opposite direction, but we found ourselves looking at handmade Kashmiri Pashmina Rugs. We both really liked this one, and I knew in a second I was screwed. There was no way we were going back to Canada without this rug, Jillene WANTED this rug. Apparently it takes a family 2-3months to make by hand, but this is cashmere wool, not silk (THANK GOD), so it's not quite as expensive as some of them can get. Lets hope it gets there, its on its way as I type this. Last time I checked online it was in London... If you look carefully you can see the 'contempt' in my eyes for the sales guy. :)

Tell Jillene that I refused to pay DHL the $25 dollars they wanted from me for the rug, so they are going to auction the rug off.
