Jaisalmer

Next was Jaisalmer and yet another fort. What is special about the Jaisalmer fort, is that people still live inside. Not the best for maintaining it, but pretty neat for tourists like us whom get to sleep in a hotel of which is made from an old haveli over 400 years old.
The streets of Jaisalmer...
One of the many old havelis to see. The intricate design, craftsmanship, and ability to weather the years so well is awe inspiring...

Another view of the fort.
And a picture of our hotel room in the 450 year old haveli in which we stayed. Was a pretty cool room, and definitely one of the neatest places we've stayed on this trip.
More fort pictures...
Having a beer outside the fort on the street before dinner...

Some of the old clothes of the royal family on display in the old palace museum...

A Jain temple still in use inside the fort...
A taste of the intricacy in their work...

Next is the camel safari where drove out to the desert in a jeep, visited a few villages along the way, and then rode camels out into the sand dunes to eat dinner and spend the night around the campfire entertained by the local Indian guides/camel handlers and look up into the clear starry night.
By far the highlight of all the villages we visited were the kids that gathered quickly around when we arrived.

A little taste how they live, this is a family's home...
I make this face too sometimes when Jillene sticks a camera in my face.
We're onto the camels now and headed into the desert!

The boys cooking our dinner... we helped make the chapatti; other than that they had it under control.
Our little group of 6 we had for the safari...
